    T = a + (n-1) d

    Step-by-step explanation:

    The arithmetic progression formula could be used to represent the series

    T = a + (n-1) d

    Where a = number of miles before increase

    d = intended additional number of miles each day

    n = number of days

    Hence on the 2nd day, number of miles to be covered by Jeff will be

    T = a + (2-1) d = a + d
