    A (area) = L (length) x W (width).

    L = W + 8, therefore A = (W + 8) x W

    660 = W2 + 8W

    W2 + 8W - 660 = 0

    Factor to get (W + 30) x (W - 22) = 0

    Possible solutions are W = - 30 and W = 22.

    W can't be < 0 so the only solution for W = 22 yd.

    L = W + 8 = 30 yd.

    22 x 30 = 660 yd2
