    If the length is 3x the width - 2 then you would count the width 8 times, 2 for the width and 3 for each length and - 4, - 2 for each length. This makes the equation 8w-4=60 if w is width.

    8w-4=60

    8w-4+4=60+4

    8w=64

    8w/8=64/8

    w=8

    Your answer is A: 8 inches
