Benjamin wants to buy a dictionary that costs $85, a dinosaur book that costs $45, and a childrens cookbook that costs $50. He has saved $42 from his allowance. Write an equation with a variable and figure out how much more money Benjamin needs to buy all of the books.

    85+45+50 = 180 - 42 = 176

    85+45+50-42=x because you want to add the prices of the books, then subtract by the money you currently have to find how much more money you need.
