    Similar but different.

    6.50 = 2p + 1d

    57.50 = 14p + 10d

    Multiply first equation by 10

    65.00 = 20p + 10d

    Subtract second equation,

    65.00 - 57.50 = 6p

    p = (65.00 - 57.50) / 6 = 1.25

    d = 6.50 - 2p = 6.50 - 2 (1.25) = 4.00

    Check:

    2 (1.25) + 4.00=6.50, good

    14 (1.25) + 10 (4.00) = 57.50, good

    Answer: Drink costs $4.00
