during a research experiment, it was found that the number of bacteria in a culture grew at a rate proportional to its size. At 10am there were 5,000 bacteria present in thr culture. at noon, the number of bacteria grew to 5,800. how much bacteria will be there at midnight?

    Since it is a proportional rate, we can assume that the rate continue through till midnight.

    Since midnight is 12 hours after noon then the bacteria grow 400 (12) = 4800.

    We add this to the population at noon 5800+4800=10,600.
