If a new jacket sells for $30, find the total cost if you were charged 5% sales tax. Round your answer to the nearest cent.

    We would multiply $30 by 5% to first find 5%

    5% = 0.05

    $30 x 0.05 = $1.50

    Now we add that to 30

    $30 + $1.50 = $31.50
