    Let J be the age of Jenny and C, the age of the cousin. Now

    Translate from English to Math

    J=2C+8 and J+C=32. We have a system of 2 equations

    with 2 variables, J and C

    J=2C+8 And

    J+C=32. Re-arrange the 1st equation : J-2C = 8, so

    J-2C = 8

    J+C=32, solve by elimination and you will find Jenny = 32 and cousin 8 years
