The formula P=nc-e gives the profit p when a number of items n are each sold at a cost c and expenses e are subtracted. If p=5700, n=4000, and e=900. what is the value of c?

    1.65

    You can substitute in the values of p, n and e to get the equation:

    5700 = 4000c - 900

    add 900 to both sides and you get

    6600 = 4000c

    divide both sides by 4000 and you get

    1.65 = c

    so the answer is 1.65
