Let's say the width is x

we know that the length is 2x+1 (1 foot longer than twice the width)

the perimeter is all sides added up so that's x+x+2x+1+2x+1 which is simplified to 6x+2

we also know that the perimeter is 29, so 6x+2=29

take 2 from both sides to get 6x=27

divide both sides by 6 to get 4.5 therefore the width is 4.5

from this we know that the length is 2 (4.5) + 1 since x is 4.5

now we know the length is 10.

if you want the area it is 4.5 times 10 which is 45feet^2
