Toni can carry up to 18 1b in her backpack. Her lunch weighs 1 1b, her gym clothes weigh 2 1b, and her books (b) weigh 3 1b each. How many books can she carry in her backpack?

    First we find how much weight is in her book bag without any books.

    1+2 = 3

    Then we find how much weight left that she can carry.

    18-3 = 15

    Now we divide by the weight of each book to see how many she can carry.

    15/3 is 5.

    She can carry 5 books!
