Suppose that x and y vary inversely, and x = 2 when y = 7. Write the function that models the inverse variation.

    If they are inversely proportionally we ca say that y=k/x where k is a constant to be found. We can then calculate k by substituting the value of x and y into the equation:

    y=k/x

    7=k/2

    k=14

    Therefore we can say that y=14/x
