An item that has been marked up sells for a profit. If an item sells that has been marked down, can it still produce a profit? Explain.

    It depends on where it is marked down from. The problem is worded in a way that leads me to believe the answer is no. I assume the price is being marked down from the cost to the company. Therefore, they would be taking a lose on the item.
