    The lateral area of a cylinder is the product of the circumference of the base and the height.

    LA = 2πrh

    Substituting for the 150,000 containers,

    150,000 LA = (150,000) (2) (π) (1.5 in) x (2.5 in)

    = 3532500 in²

    Multiplying with the cost,

    ($0.02 / in²) (3532500 in²) = $70650

    Thus, the answer is letter D.
