The answer to your question is 8 pints

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Data

Initial amount of paint = 20 pints

    She uses, 2/5 and 3/10

Later she will use 14 pints, paint needed?

    Process

    1. - Calculate the paint left after have used 2/5

    20 x 2/5 = 40/5 = 8 She used 8 pints

    20 - 8 = 12 pints left

    2. - Calculate the paint left after have used 3/10

    20 x 3/10 = 60/10 = 6 She used 6 pints

    3. - Calculate the paint left

    20 - 8 - 6

    20 - 14

    6 pints

    4. - Calculate the paint needed

    14 - 6 = 8 pints

She needs to buy 8 pints of paint
