    Alexa sold 8 small cups and 16 large cups of lemonade

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let number of small cups = x

    Let number of large cups = y

    Each small cups holds 8 ounces of lemonade and each large cup hold 16 ounces of lemonade.

    Since Alexa used 320 ounces of lemonade,

    8x+16y=320 ... (i)

    If she sold twice as many small cups as large cups

    Number of large cups sold = Twice number of small cups

    y=2x ... (ii)

    Substituting y=2x in (ii) into (i)

    8x+16 (2x) = 320

    8x+32x=321

    40x=320

    x=320/40 = 8

    Since y=2x, y=2X 8=16

    Therefore: x=8, y=16
