    Perimeter, P = 2 * (L + W),

    Where L = Length, W = Width

    P = 2 * (L + W)

    74 = 2 * (23 + W)

    74/2 = (23 + W)

    37 = (23 + W)

    37 - 23 = W

    14 = W

    W = 14

    The width is 14 inches.

    Perimeter = 2 (l+b)

    74 = 2 (23 + b)

    b = 14

    width = 14 inches
