    274 - 190 = 84 ... so it took 3 years to grow 84 inches ... that means it is growing at a rate of : 84/3 = 28 cm per year

    y = 28x + 190 ... this would be ur equation where y is the total height in cm. and x is the number of years.

    So how many years till it reaches 344 cm ... sub in 344 for y and solve for x

    344 = 28x + 190

    344 - 190 = 28x

    154 = 28x

    154/28 = x

    5.5 = x < = = = 5 1/2 (or 5.5) years would have passed
