Mark drove 50 percent of the distance.

Jason drove 1/8 of the distance.

Andy drove the remainder of the distance.

1. Andy thinks he drove 1/4 of the distance from Phoenix, AZ, to San Diego, CA. Is Andy correct? Use mathematics to justify your answer.

    Break everything into 8ths.

    50% = 1/2=4/8

    4/8+1/8=5/8

    the remaining distance is 8/8-5/8. so 3/8, not 1/4
