Solve by using the perfect squares method.

(2x + 4) 2 = 64

    (2x + 4) ² = 64

    Taking the square root of both sides:

    2x + 4 = ±8

    subtract 4 from both sides:

    2x = - 4 ± 8

    And dividing 2 from both sides:

    x = - 2 ± 4

    x = - 6 and 2
