For each of the six persons present at that time to have the same amount of cake, each of them should be given one piece. This will leave us only with 2 pieces.

Each of the pieces can also be divided into three equal parts to produce six and be given to each of them. In equation, this can also be answered by dividing 8 by 6.

n = 8/6

Simplifying,

n = 4/3; this is equal to 1 1/3.
