It takes the dryer 45 inutes to dry a load of towels. If the dryer uses 6,750,000 joules of energy to dry the towels, what is the power rating of the machine?

    45 minutes

    6,750,000 joules

    Power (w) = Work (j) / Time (s)

    Convert the time from minutes to seconds

    1 minute = 60 seconds

    45 minutes * 60 seconds/min = 45 * 60 seconds = 2,700 seconds

    w = 6,750,000 joules / 2,700 seconds

    w = 2,500 watts

    The power rating of the dryer is 2,500 watts.
