    given: 1 gallon can last for about 34.7 miles

    i like to use the cross multiplication technique. what i do is:

    1 gallon = 34.7 miles

    14.3 gallons = ?

    then cross multiply by multiplying 34.7 x 14.3 and divide the answer you get by 1
