    Let x be the number.

    The equation would be: 5 (2x - 11) = - 25

    Multiply 2x - 11 by 5 so that it is 10x - 55

    Now, move the - 55 to the other side of the equation so 10x = - 25 + 55

    Subtract so 10x = 30

    Now divide 30 by 10 to find x.

    x = 3
