    Let 'x' be number of females in the course

    Number of males = 5x

    total number of students = 5x+x

    5/6.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given that M represents the Male and F represents the Female.

    As per the statement:

    There are 5 times as many males as females on the maths course at university.

    Therefore M = 5F

    Total number of person on the maths course = M + F = 5F + F = 6F

    Find the fraction of the course are male;

    fraction of the course are male = Number of Males on the math course : Total number of person on the course.

    Substitute the given values we have;

    fraction of the course are male = 5F/6F = 5/6

    Hence, the fraction of the course are male is 5/6.
