Functions are like machines. You put a number (domain) into a function, and a new number (range) comes out! For example, if f (x) = y, we have to multiply x by a number to get y. We can graph the relationship between x and y on a coordinate plane, and use a linear equation to turn our function into a non-algebraic equation.
