    34,623

    Step-by-step explanation:

    The first 10 months meaning January through October there was a total of 427,113 books checked out. On the eleventh month (November) there was a total of 38,264 books checked out. The librarian wants to set a record of 500,000 books so what is the difference?

    500,000-427,113-38,264 = 34,623

    Therefore, on the twelve month (December) there must be a total of 34,623 books checked out in order to reach the goal of 500,000 books checked out.

    they must check out at least 34623 books

    Step-by-step explanation:

    1st 10 months + november + december = yearly goal

    plug in what we know

    427113 + 38264 + december = 500000

    combine like terms

    465377 + december = 500000

    subtract 465377 from each side

    465377-465377 + december = 500000-465377

    december = 34623
