If a square has the same area as a rectangle that is 16 by 4, then a side of the square has what length?

    Rectangle:

    A = l x w

    A = 16 x 4

    A = 64

    square:

    A = l^2 OR l x l

    64 = l^2

    square root of 64 = square root of l^2

    8 = l

    the square has to have a side length of 8!
