200 Primary 6 pupils in a school sat for a mid-year Math examination.

20% of the pupils scored above 90 marks and 40% of the remainder scored

between 70 and 90 marks. The rest scored below 70 marks. How many pupils

scored below 70 marks in the Math examination?

    total number of pupils = 200

    number that scored above 90 = 20% of 200 = 20/100 x 200

    = 0.2 x 200 = 40 students

    remainder of students = 200 - 40 = 160 students

    students that scored between 70 and 90 = 40% of remainder

    = 40 % OF 160 = 40/100 X 160

    = 0.4 X 160 = 64 students

    students that scored below 70 marks = remainder of students - students that scored between 70 and 90 marks

    = 160-64 = 96 students.
