    travel: 8 m displacement: 6 m

    Step-by-step explanation:

    a) On the first putt, the ball travels 6 m to the hole and 1 m beyond, for a total of 7 m. On the second putt, the ball travels an additional 1 m to the hole, for a total travel distance of 8 m.

    __

    b) The ball finishes this scenario 6 m from where it started, for a displacement of 6 m (in the positive direction).
