a. If 540 people preferred walking, how many people were surveyed?

b. How many people preferred running?

    A. 540 is 60% of 900 so 900 people were surveyed.

    60/100 • x = 540

    Multiply both sides by 100

    Then divide both sides by 60

    B. If you subtract 900-540 your answer will be 360. 360 people preferred running.
