American football fields measure 100 yards long between the end zones, and are 53 1/3 yards wide. Is the length of the diagonal across this field more or less than 120 yards? Explain.

    To solve, you need to use Pythagorean Theorum

    a^2+b^2=c^2

    100^2+53.33^2 = c^2

    10,000+2844.0889=c^2

    12844.1=c^2

    square root

    = 113 1/3 yards

    So it is less than 120 yards
