Anne has saved 9 dollars for a new coat that is 1/6 as much money as she needs how much does the coat cost?

    9 = 1/6 of the total price.

    6 sixths = 1.

    Therefore, if we multiply that amount by 6, we'll have the full price.

    9 * 6 = $54

    This is a great example of inverse operations, by the way. Division and multiplication of the same value will cancel out just like addition and subtraction.

    To express this in a comparison chart, just draw a block and label it 9 dollars.

    Then draw 5 more blocks (for a total of 6) and label them as 54 blocks altogether.
