A mixture of 50 liters of paint is 25% red tint, 30% yellow tint and 45% water. 7 liters of yellow tint is added to the original mixture. What percent of yellow tint is in the new mixture? Answer must be correct to 1 decimal place.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    To solve this we must first know how many liters of each color paint is in the mixture

    0.25*50 = 12.5L of red paint

    0.30*50 = 15L of yellow paint

    0.45*50 = 22.5L of water

    But then we add 7 liters of yellow paint. So the new numbers are:

    12.5L red paint

    22L of yellow paint

    22.5L of water

    Now we just the new amount of paint by the amount of mixture

    Red=12.5/57

    Yellow=22/57 = 38.596491228

    Water=22.5/57

    Since we only care about 1 decimal place though, the answer would be 38.5%
