Recycled plastic keeps people warm. Some factories used recycled plastic, combined with other fabrics to make winter jackets. A warehouse has 46 truckloads of recycled plastic. They used 8 truckloads each day. When there are fewer than 16 truckloads, more need to be ordered. Be a math detective. Figure out how many truckloads will be left after 2 days. After 3 days. How many truckloads will be left after 2 days?

    Answer: 30 truckloads

    Multiply 8 by 2.

    8 (2)

    16

    Then 46 minus 16

    46-16=30 truckloads

    After 3 days?

    Answer: 22 truckloads

    Multiply 8 by 3

    8 (3)

    24

    Then 46 minus 24

    46-24=22 truckloads

When will more need to be ordered?

    Answer: 4 days

Find the closest # to 46 that's a multiple of 8 and has more than 16 left over:

    8,16,24,32,40,48

40 is the closest, but has more than 16 leftovers. So the next one would be 32. If you subtract 32 from 48, you have exactly 16 left. 32 is the 4th multiple of 8, so there would be 4 days until they need a refill.
