Lizzy bought 4 bags of apples each bag had the same number of apples her mom gave her 8 more apples now Lizzy has 36 apples how many apples were in each bag

    Let a=number of apples in a bag, then:

    4a+8=36 subtract 8 from both sides

    4a=28 divide both sides by 4

    a=7

    So there were 7 apples in each bag.
