Use the converse of the Pythagorean theorem c^2=b^2+a^2 so 8^2=4^2+x^2 so 64=16+x^2 so subtract 16 from both sides to get 48 then take the square root of 48 to get 6.92 or 4 radical 3 (4 times the square root of three.)
