So when Aiden collects $3.50, Jacob collects $6.80

the difference between them is $3.30

and we have to make this number $115.50

    $115.50 / $3.30 = 35

Why did we do this? Because now we know this:

    $3.30 x 35 = $115.50

(that we have to multiply by 35)

So, now we just apply that onto the ratio

    3.5 : 6.8

    3.5 x 35 : 6.8 x 35

    122.5 : 238

When Aiden collected $122.5, Jacob collected exactly $115.50 more than him.

Since we have to find the total amount, let's add them together!

    $122.5 + $238 = $360.5

    The answer is $360.5
