I am a 3-digit whole number. if you double me, I remain a 3-digit number. if you add 2 to me after I am doubled, I become a 4-digitnumber. what number am i?

    1000 is a four digit number

    1000 - 2 = 998 (A three digit number)

    998/2 = 499 (A three digit number)

    Your answer is 499

    Check your work:

    2 (499) + 2 = 1000
