    What all formulas have in common is that at the end of the equation there will be a variable with no x paired with it (aka the y-intercept; the 'c' equivalent in the example formula i gave), this letter is what tells the graph to move up or down the y-axis.

    So in the answers given, ask yourself, " is there any y-intercept? And if so, is it plus 5?"

    * * plus 5 is the graph moving up 5 units on the y-axis

    And you'd find the first answer is the only equation with a y-inter.

    * * side note: In y = (x + 5) ^2, the 5 isn't a y-inter. bc it's inside the parenthesis. Numbers in the para. (like 5) tells the graph to move left or right (if it is a "-" it's right and "+" is left)
