    Surface Area = 6 * Area of Square Face = 6s^2 where s is the side or edge of the cube.

    you would then take 294=6s^2 or 49=s^2 after dividing by 6 to both sides of the equation.

    when taking the square root to both sides yields s=7.

    volume = V = s^3 = 7^3 = 343 cubic cm.

    The dimensions are 7 cm by 7 cm by 7 cm and the volume is 343 cubic cm.

    so one side is 7cm
