Chris went on a bike ride of 24 miles. He realized that if he had gone 8 mph faster, he would have arrived 4 hours sooner. How fast did he actually ride?

    Total miles = rate x time

    We can set up 2 eq:

    24 = (x+8) (y-4)

    24=xy

    Where x is equal to my original rate

    and y is equal to the original time spent traveling the 2mi

    We can now solve for one of the variables and find our rate
