The volleyball team raised $350 from its fundraiser. It wants to buy jerseys and volleyballs. The jerseys cost $12 each, and the team needs 22 jerseys. Volleyballs cost $15 each. What is the maximum number of volleyballs the team can buy and still have money left? Write your answer and explain the steps you took.

    The team can buy 5 volleyballs. I wrote the inequality (12) (22) + 15n < 350, then did the multiplication first. I used the subtraction and division properties of inequality to isolate the variable to find that n is less than about 5.73. I rounded down to 5, since you can’t buy part of a volleyball.
