    Hello! Complementary angles are 90 degrees each. Two of them combined equals 180 degrees. To find the "x" value, we have to write out the formula. This would be 8x + 1 - y = 180. Just by looking at the answer choices, the answers are not A or B. The answer would have to be D, because when you plug in the number, it would be a little over. However, if you subtract 5, you would get 180. y = 5, x = 23. The answer is D: 23.
