What is the reason for each step in the solution of the equation?

4x-1=-2 (x+1)

4x-1=-2x-2

6x-1=-2

6x=-1

x=-16

    4x-1=-2x-2 distribute the - 2

    6x-1=-2 add 2x to both sides

    6x=-1 add 1 to both sides

    x=-16. this step is incorrect

    the last step should be dividing both sides by 6,

    so the answer should be x=-1/6
