Slove the system of equations:y+4*=8and 5*+2y=13?

I am gonna use substitution method.

Solve for y in first equation,

y + 4x = 8

y = 8 - 4x

Put the above y value in second equation,

5x + 2y = 13

5x + 2 (8-4x) = 13

5x + 16 - 8x = 13

-3x = 13-16

-3x = - 3

x = - 3/-3

x = 1/1 = 1

Put the x value in first equation,

y + 4x = 8

y + 4 (1) = 8

y = 8 - 4

y = 4

Hence, the solution is (1,4)
