In industrial processes, or any other real life applications of mathemiatics, tolerances are kept to allow for errors in manufacturing of items. In this case, the conveyer belt's width is allowe to vary by 7/32 inch. This means that it may be greater than 50 by 7/32 inch or less than 50 by 7/32 inch. Therefore, the values of the conveyer belt's acceptable widths are: 50 + 7/32 = 50.2875 inches and 50 - 7/32 = 49.78125 inches
