    700 children tickets, 950 adult tickets

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let x and y be the number of tickets sold for children and adults, respectively. We know that the total number of tickets sold is 1650. So x + y = 1650, or x = 1650 - y

    Also the total ticket revenue is $14200, at $12 per adult and $4 per child. We have:

    4x + 12y = 14200

    We can substitute x = 1650 - y

    4 (1650 - y) + 12y = 14200

    6600 - 4y + 12y = 14200

    6600 + 8y = 14200

    8y = 14200 - 6600 = 7600

    y = 7600 / 8 = 950 adult tickets

    x = 1650 - 950 = 700 children tickets
