When two pipes fill a pool together, they can finish in 4 hours. If one of the pipes fills half the pool then the other takes over and finishes filling the pool, it will take them 9 hours. How long will it take each pipe to fill the pool if it were working alone?

    Well if they work together it would only take 4 hours but if one pipe fills half and the other would take over and finish it would take 9 hours. If one pipe can fill half the pool in 4.5 hours (because 9 divided by 2 is 4.5) and the other pipe 4.5 hours it is really easy. If one pipe can fill have the pool in 4.5 hours and the other can in 4.5 hours too if you just use one you would have to do 4.5 + 4.5 witch would be 9 hours.
