    6x - 2y = - 10

    Plug in 4 for y because you are given (x, y) - -> (x, 4).

    6x - 2 (4) = - 10

    Multiply 2 * 4.

    6x - 8 = - 10

    Add 8 to both sides.

    6x = - 2

    Divide both sides by 6.

    x = - 2/6 = - 1/3
